From June 17th through 28th 2007, five officers of OISCA South India Chapter visited Japan to go through a capacity development program in Yamanashi, Nagano, Aichi, and Shizuoka Japan. In order to serve better in the world community, OISCA Japan needs to strengthen its effective ties of relationship with chapters of various countries. In this connection, members of India play key roles in connecting OISCA Japan and chapters in Africa and Middle East.
The program in Japan specially focused on forestation and agriculture. It will be important that OISCA activities in India with enhanced capability in these specific fields, will make greater presence and impact to society.
OISCA Chapters in Yamanashi, Nagano, Aichi and Shizuoka organized programs for them. In Yamanashi, they visited a forest of citizens to learn how to create social forests efficiently. They also learned about ecological water purification system as issues of securing clean drinking water was a crucial problem in many countries. Among other institutions, they paid a visit to Fukutsu farm in Aichi where the owner runs a natural farming. They learned how to grow healthy and delicious crops with minimum labor and energy investment. After the program, all the participants expressed their confidence, that idea and information obtained through the program would certainly be utilized in their future activities.
