OISCA North India has started Community Development Program in Haryana state.
With the collaboration of KPMG Gurgaon(a multi-national financial company), OISCA North India will implement Plantation Drives in 20 Schools, Waste Managements and Rain Water Harvesting in 5 Schools (recharging the ground level water).
On July 18, 2008, around 80 employees from KPMG had visited the schools where Rain Water Harvesting has been implemented and also testing of the project was carried on. The testing was successful. The community people were also happy with the implementation of this project and are supporting OISCA for plantation drive.
The benefits of implementation of this project, Recharging ground level water , will be
- Quality of groundwater improves.
- Reduces the soil erosion as the surface runoff is reduced.
- Choking of storm water drains and flooding of roads decreases.
- Save electricity- one metre in water saves about 0.04 kilo watt hour of electricity.
- Raises the water levels in well and bore wells.
On July 18 th , the KPMG staff also visited Marumal Boys Senior Secondary School in Gurgaon for plantation drives. Around 100 students and 50 community people joined in the plantation drives. Around 150 saplings were planted in the schools playground ground.
Around 1500 saplings will be planted by students, Community people and KPMG staff in 20 schools in the month July and August. OISCA India will be implementing the plantation Drive.
