OISCA DAY in South India on July 23 rd.

　
OISCA South India observed the OISCA Day by Planting 2000 plants by involving 1000 children at JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Suttur, Mysore on July 23 rd 2008. It was a tree planting festival with an awareness creation component in the ongoing Mysore tree planting project, “ Toshiba Forest ”.

The program was inaugurated by noted environmentalist Mr. Suresh Hebliker who is closely associating with OISCA activities in Bangalore . Mr. Tetsuya Tabe, Director & CKO(Chief Knowledge Officer) of Toshiba Embedded India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore felicitated the function and participated in planting with children. The program was also blessed by His Holiness Sivarathry Desikendra Swamiji, the head of JSS Institutions in Karnataka. Mr. M. Aravind Babu described OISCA activities. Mr. B.N. Bekerur IAS, the Executive Secretary of JSS institutions appreciated OISCA for taking up the task of greening the barren lands of JSS institutions.

Many environmentalists and public also participated in planting along with the OISCA members came from different parts of South India. The students were very much enthusiastic and actively participated in the tree planting program. They really utilized the opportunity to interact with people from outside Karnataka. To encourage the children and as a token, school bags were presented to all children who participated in the function. 

OISCA Toshiba Forest is one of major projects of OISCA India. It started in 2007. In this three year long project, 40,000 saplings will be planted in Mysore . This project will provide environmental education opportunity for children. The major planting site will be various educational institutes of JSS .
