CFP Compostela Valley Province joined the launching of Environmental Awareness Campaign, Philippine.

  

Environmental degradation due to human intervention is one of the most tackled issues for the past years. In order to help alleviate the problem, the local government of Compostela Valley , a newly founded province of the Philippines located in the Davao Region in Mindanao , launched an Environmental Awareness Campaign for the whole month of June 2008. A forum titled “Healing the Environment through Education and Spirit Approach” was held on June 25, 2008 and attended by the participants from Non- Government Organization, students and teachers from secondary level and other civic organization. OISCA Compostela Valley chapter as an NGO joined in the said event by sending one teacher, one CFP (Children 's Forest Program)coordinator and seven student members of Love Green Club of Pasian National High School (an active member school of CFP).

The forum started with the introduction of the speakers and the participants and after that issues concerning the environment has been discussed, solutions have been tackled and action plans and how to implement it have been talked about.

In order to show support to the environmental campaigns of the LGU, CFP Compostela Valley joined in series of activities.

June 27, 2008 − The Pasian National High School celebrated the Environmental Awareness Month where in students and Love Green Club officers and members participated in cleaning the school's mini forest in which they mowed grasses under the trees. They also planted 30 Mahogany seedlings in Haguimitan landfill.

A forum on Healing the Environment through Education and Spiritual approach(June 27)
  

June 30, 2008 − The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office of Monkayo, Comval Province, invited the Pasian National High School to participate in the tree planting activity. Love Green members, principal of the school, OISCA members joined in the said program. The principal said that she wanted to expose the students in reforestation activities to widen their knowledge about the environment and at the same time they will learn to love and conserved nature, as they understand the need to do so.

July 2, 2008 − Environmental Awareness Campaign was launched at provincial capitol and attended by OISCA members together with other stockholders such as the LGU, students, DENR, Red Cross, Civic Organizations, and other NGO's. The participants of the event planted trees in Nabunturan landfill. After the reforestation activity, participants went directy to the Mass program for Environment sponsored by the local government of Compostela Valley .

July 8, 2008 − Cabidianan Elementary school (CFP school) prepared a welcome program to a Japanese visitor,a member of OISCA International. A visitor later on joined the students and OISCA Philippine chapter members in planting Mahogany seedlings in a selected site. Despite the language barrier, the participants' goal of salvaging the environment from its further deterioration made them unite. After the event, smiles emanated from the faces of the participants were observed.
