BATCH 26 ENDS TRAINING AT OISCA SUKABUMI TRAINING CENTER, Indonesia.

After nine months of training in the field of agriculture, woodworking, women's empowerment, poultry raising and environmental education, the 26 th batch of trainees in OISCA Sukabumi Training Center , Indonesia had their graduation ceremony on July 24 th , 2008. This batch is composed of 26 youths hailing from 11 provinces of Indonesia and 1 youth from Timor Leste.

The event was well attended by around 200 guests from the government, education, military and private sectors. Special guest speakers during ceremony were Mr. Hary Muharam, Regional Assistant II of Sukabumi Regency; Mr. Wiyogo Atmodarminto, chairman of OISCA Indonesia and Mr. Hideki Yoshinaga, director of OISCA I.D.M. Mr. Hary Muharman urged trainees especially those from Sukabumi to make use of their skills by empowering people in their villages. He also officially closed the training course.

The presence of Mr. Wiyogo Atmodarminto added luster to the event as this was the first time he attended the ceremony after OISCA Bogor Training Center was closed more than 10 years ago. He commented about his happiness in joining the ceremony and to meet former trainees who are now successful in their own fields of endeavor. He wished new graduates to follow the same path of supporting any OISCA activities.

Miss Cristianti Dwi Saputri delivered a farewell address in behalf of her co-trainees. She mentioned in part of her message that for 9 months they toiled together under the sweltering heat and heavy rain, but they endured the hard work because of their aspirations. The various knowledge and experiences acquired will be of help to their future and communities.

After the ceremony, guests were entertained with traditional music performed by the children of SDN Cibadak 10 (Cibadak 10 Elementary School). This is a CFP(Children's Forest Program) school and teaching staff wanted to show their appreciation to OISCA through this music presentation. A bazaar featuring organic produce from the agriculture division, food and handicrafts from the women's empowerment program division, furniture from the woodworking and carpentry division and ornamental plants from the chrysanthemum project were displayed for sale. Guests rushed to the bazaar site to purchase products which were taken up swiftly.

All the staff were very grateful to everybody who joined in the closing exercises of the 26 th batch. And now, we are all looking forward to the arrival of the 27 th batch in November. .
