Bago Training Center

The Bago Training Center is a focal point for rural community development activities promoted by OISCA in Negros Occidental. Its main activities include training of youths, promoting sericulture, swine raising and reforestation. It also provides those students in the Province with scholarships to study at colleges or universities. It organizes cooking classes for the benefit of housewives near the Center.

The Center has the total of 26.8 hectares of land of which 2,497 square meters are used for buildings, 11 hectares for rice fields, 0.3 hectare for upland fields and 7 hectares for mulberry farms. Every year the Center receives about 20 trainees in farming. They engage in crop culture such as rice, eggplant, tomato, okra, pumpkin and pig raising and poultry farming.

During the fiscal year 2004, they bred and sold on an average about 60 piglets per month. They kept about 600 chickens and sold about 500 eggs per day. Some of them were invited to OISCA training courses in Japan.

In addition, this Training Center ran Negros Sericulture Extension Project and Ajuy Reforestation Project.
